At St Laurence-in-Thanet Church of England Junior Academy, we want every child to develop a love of reading. Our school library is an important part of this. It gives children a welcoming space where they can explore books, discover new authors and enjoy reading for pleasure.

The library is used to support reading across the school and to help children develop positive reading habits. Pupils are encouraged to choose books that interest them, recommend books to others and take pride in caring for our library space.

We use the Junior Librarian programme in school to help manage our library. This allows books to be scanned in and out, helping children to understand how a library system works and encouraging them to take responsibility for borrowing and returning books carefully.

We believe that reading opens doors. Through our library, we aim to give children regular opportunities to read widely, talk about books and grow in confidence as readers.

School Librarians

Our pupil librarians play an important role in helping to keep the library tidy, organised and inviting. They support other children with choosing books, encourage younger pupils to enjoy reading and help to promote reading across the school.
